A rare species in UK expanding its range after being exterminated across most of Britain.
Looks like the real thing too (i.e. not a ferret or a polecat/ferret 'hybrid'). Obviously this maggot and tick infested corpse was too interesting to bury. It's wrapped-up in my freezer (just in case it's ID needs to be confirmed). Nice find, not so sure about taking it home for the freezer
 but i'm also not surprised at 'you' freezing it though  when can we expect the BBQ invites -------------------- Regards

They're not called polecats for nothing - they're perfect for skewering over a BBQ. And this one comes ready stuffed with maggots and a light dusting of bloated ticks - yum-yum

What a bloody waste ....You could have skinned the thing.

Polecats are origionally of welsh origin. The only true way to establish this animals true id is by skull measurments and dna, The national museums of Scotland ran a study of polecat numbers last year and there has been a 93% increase since 1995.
Study's also confirm polecats true welsh origins. |
