I had a female great plains mantis that i caught wild. She got almost 8 inches long and about 5 inches tall. (MONSTER BUG) died of the same thing.

But what did both mantids die from? That's what I'd like to know.

Oooooooooh! Are they still alive? Hopefully some one will know what is causing this and how you can prevent it from happening.

Its luck of the draw like almost every other thing. You cant control bacteria... your too big and anti bacterial stuff will probably kill your mantid. But i cleaned the cage when i got another plains mantis and there was no infection with that one. So my advice would be clean out the cage and try again.
