In that second pic of Leo, he doesn't look too happy! Was it because you put him off his stroke with your camra flash? laugh.gif
I like the penguin best, am I right in thinking it's a Black footed or Jackass Penguin (Spheniscus demersus)?
I have loved Penguins ever since seeing them in South Africa and won't hear a word said againts them because they are mint! smile.gif And yes if I could give up spiders and keep Penguins I would! biggrin.gif

Nice pics but now can we see the better ones?.....you know the ones the kids took. laugh.gif earstoung.gif

Been meaning to check out Bristol Zoo for a while - finally went on Sunday.

This was the only pic we got, before the batteries went flat.

Didn't see the info plaque but assume it's some sort of tern? Was in the penguin enclosure so presumably from southern hemisphere?

Definately worth a visit for a day out. Lots to see and was impressed by the standard of most exhibits and overall planning.

Looking forward to when they open the walk around the lemurs garden - the red coloured ones look very cute and fluffy!

In the bug house, I really enjoyed seeing the wettas (sp?) New Zealand cricket type bugs. Very impressive.

Also the bee hive.

The P. regalis had a damaged leg (possibly bitten by a roaming locust) - she was very plump so won't need feeding for some time.

The other theraphosids round the zoo looked in ok condition tho.
