Hi Paul,
I have a similar specimen, and I had some more in the past. Most (if not all) were from East Africa, as far as I remember, and many were wrongly labled as Stasimopus robertsi. But Stasimopus is a Ctenizidae, and your spider obviously has its anterior lateral eyes set in advance of the others, so it belongs to the Idiopidae subfamily Idiopinae.
Sometimes spiders like this are labled as Gorgyrella, which is maybe correct.
Regards
Ingo

Hi Michael,
thanks for the link.
I just checked an exuvia of one of those spiders using the key jeff h mentions in his thread. And this key perfectly leads to Ctenolophus. I had some problems with Ravens key for Idiopidae, he mentions different features. And I still do not know what he means with "Chelicerae medially produced"? cry.gif wink.gif
Regards
Ingo

hi,
I checked those some time ago, too. I used Raven (1985) and came to Ctenolophus...
